Keswick has welcomed Oh!Nest Cafe at 672 The Queensway S. Owners Eddy and Hanna Heider, and their son Ronnie, are excited to take on their next business venture and share their love of food. The family has spent many years in the hospitality and tourism sector, most recently running a restaurant on Main Street in Newmarket called Aubergine.
When the pandemic hit, they decided to sell and look for a new opportunity that would still allow them to continue to fulfill their passion for food and hospitality but would be one that wouldn’t be as heavily reliant on seating. “Georgina is the next big thing that’s growing,” said Ronnie. They chose Georgina because they like the area and the community, and were looking for affordable space to rent. The new subdivision across the road was also appealing and one of the reasons why they picked their location, knowing there would be a number of people within walking distance.
Familiar with the area, the Heider family has made Georgina a summer destination for years to enjoy the lake. The lakeside feel of the community really appeals to Eddy as he spent many years in California on the coast and was always drawn to the water. He said Georgina gives him that same feeling.
“I always like to cook and I always like to see a smile when people eat and enjoy,” said Eddy. It’s his passion for the industry that propelled him to open the business. When he was young, he worked in Italy in different restaurants, so he learned how to cook authentic Italian food. For many years he also worked in accounting for high-profile companies, but cooking was always his passion. It's what he says he likes to spend his time doing. Ronnie also followed in his dad’s footsteps working in accounting and restaurants. Combined, their experience, skill and passion will bring residents and tourists alike a new experience to be enjoyed.
The menu has a lot of the same foods served at their Newmarket Main Street restaurant, now with different names. Their steak and cheese sandwich and chicken Souvlaki are requested often, along with their lineup of cafe drinks. Oh!Nest Cafe is now open seven days a week from 11a.m. to 7 p.m. For those who are unable to visit the cafe in person, you can still give them a try by ordering through UberEats and DoorDash.
