Many longtime residents in Georgina can share an experience or tell a story about the history of the Briars Resort and Spa, one of the area's oldest business establishments. To celebrate more than 200 years of agriculture in Georgina, the Town hosts a farm tour with a diverse mix of farms, each providing unique and educational experiences. The self-guided tour on the third Saturday in August consists of eight farmers at seven tour stops throughout the Town’s lakeside communities. Entrepreneurs Emily Maione and Taylor Straeche took a big step in their business growth, moving from a home-based business to a storefront. Happy & Co. officially opened its doors in April 2022, on the corner of Woodbine Avenue and Metro Road in Island Grove. Residents will remember the location fondly as the old bowling alley.

A historic lakeside destination close to Toronto

Jackson’s Point takes its name from John Mills Jackson, who purchased the harbour land from the Bourchier family – the same family involved in the development of nearby historic Sutton.

Two years ago, Claudio Macri and Patricia Ramos moved to Jackson’s Point from Richmond Hill. They regularly went on walks that would take them along Lake Drive East. Patricia and Claudio would never have guessed the restaurant located at 928 Lake Drive E., which they walked by daily, would one day become theirs. “We wanted to open up a restaurant here eventually but we were thinking in three to four years,” says Claudio.
