Georgina’s commercial shopping areas
Georgina is home to a growing number of residents, restaurants, services and shops throughout its lakeside communities. It is uniquely landscaped in such a way that there are many commercial areas spanning more than 280 square kilometres. Whichever community you are in, there are shopping and dining options close by. Keswick, followed by Sutton/Jackson’s Point and Pefferlaw, has the most commercial shopping, all within a short walk or drive from parks, beaches and accommodations. Business Improvement Areas
Georgina is made up of three larger communities and smaller hamlets. The municipality has three designated business improvement areas (BIAs) that offer walkable downtown shopping and dining experiences close to Lake Simcoe in Jackson’s Point (est. 1992), Keswick (est. 2014) and Sutton (est. 1995), representing more than 150 storefront businesses. Businesses within these areas are eligible for grants through the municipality that support beautification and accessibility improvements.
The Town supports the promotion of these areas through campaigns and tourism development and is actively engaged with the BIA boards and businesses regarding Town initiatives such as Streetscaping Design Standards and the Waterfront Parks Master Plan. Learn more about Georgina’s BIAs.
Jackson's Point BIA
Jackson’s Point is a walkable waterfront destination with direct access to Lake Simcoe. It features a parkette, nearby beaches, resorts, and bed and breakfast accommodations, and attracts visitors for boutique shopping and a variety of dining experiences. Jackson’s Point – Ontario’s first cottage country – is home to Sibbald Point Provincial Park, York Region’s only harbour and renowned golfing experiences.
Uptown Keswick BIA
Keswick is Georgina’s largest commercial business area. Visitors have access to all of the essentials, as well as unique shopping and dining experiences. Keswick is home to the Stephen Leacock Theatre of Performing Arts, Military Museum and the ROC.
Sutton BIA
Sutton is a historic commercial centre with a small-town charm. It is accessible for pedestrians, day trippers and boaters alike. Many people choose to visit Sutton for its unique shopping and dining experiences and facades that represent its historical roots. Sutton is home to the Georgina Farmers’ Market, Georgina Entrepreneurship Hub and the Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture.
